Endocrinologist
Dr. Sushma Reddy is board certified in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism and Internal Medicine. She earned her medical degree with distinction at Kakatiya Medical College in India. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism at Wayne State University, Detroit. She began her medical career as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University where she established an inpatient diabetes unit.
Dr. Reddy built and ran a clinical endocrinology practice in Michigan for 28 years, where she developed a successful "boot camp" approach to patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes, an insulin pump program and a CGM clinic. She was instrumental in achieving Joint Commission Certification for Advanced Specialty Care in Diabetes in both hospitals in her area, making them 2 of the 3 hospitals in Michigan to have achieved this distinction.
Dr. Reddy is passionate about CGM and improving outcomes in all individuals with diabetes using a human-centered approach that incorporates the latest technology and tools. She helped develop a virtual, team-based diabetes care model at Steady Health and later Carbon Health, incorporating CGM and addressing diabetes-related distress. As a MAVEN Project physician volunteer, she has helped establish diabetes programs incorporating CGM in underserved areas with limited access to endocrine expertise.
She is a clinical innovator and serves as a consultant to clinicians and organizations/institutions seeking to establish CGM and RPM programs. Her current research interests lie in exploring evidence-based practices to completely harness the power of CGM to transform the lives of individuals with diabetes and prediabetes.
