Chief Medical Advisor

Rayhan Lal, MD

Chief Medical Advisor

Dr. Rayhan Lal is a quadruple-board certified physician in internal medicine, pediatrics, adult endocrinology, and pediatric endocrinology at Stanford University, where he cares for people with diabetes across all ages and leads clinical innovation at the intersection of technology and metabolism. His lifelong experience living with type 1 diabetes—and supporting siblings who also live with the condition—shapes the empathy, rigor, and urgency he brings to clinical care.

Originally trained in electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley, Dr. Lal has spent his career uniting engineering, medicine, and patient experience to expand what is possible in diabetes technology. His clinical and research work focuses on improving safety, usability, and real-world outcomes for people using automated insulin delivery, wearables, and novel therapeutics. As Tidepool’s Chief Medical Advisor, he provides strategic and clinical leadership across our product, research, and health-system initiatives, ensuring that everything we build is grounded in evidence, equity, and lived experience.
