Our experience with telemedicine

A first hand account of one family's experience connecting with their daughter’s endocrinologist in a virtual visit using Tidepool.

Tidepool for parents and caregivers

As a parent or caregiver, you can manage an account on behalf of children. Connect with your pediatrician, endocrinologist, or any one else who's part of your family's care team. You can transfer ownership of children's accounts a later time when they're older and ready to manage it on their own. The set up is the same, but requires a parent or legal guardian to oversee the account for children under the age of 18.

Tidepool does not allow children under the age of 13 to register or use the Tidepool Apps and we require that children between 13 and 18 must have their parent’s or legal guardian’s consent to register or use Tidepool Apps.

Getting started with your child's account is quick and easy.

Community resources

Tidepool has partnered with JDRF to share some of the incredible resources they have available for the type 1 diabetes community. JDRF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to harnessing the power of research, advocacy, and community engagement to advance life-changing breakthroughs for type 1 diabetes.

JDRF Bag of Hope®

To help you and your child navigate the challenging period of adjustment to life with type 1 diabetes (T1D), you can find helpful information, inspirational resources and support through the JDRF Bag of Hope. This is a complimentary resource for children ages 11 and younger.

JDRF No Limits Teen Care Kit

The JDRF No Limits Teen Care Kit is a free resource providing teens and parents with the information and encouragement needed to adjust to life with type 1 diabetes (T1D). This resource is for teens ages 12 to 17.

JDRF No Limits Adult Care Kit

A type 1 diabetes (T1D) diagnosis can be overwhelming at any age. The JDRF No Limits Adult Care Kit is a free resource providing information and tools to educate, support and inspire adults living with T1D.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are critical to finding therapies to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D), yet many are delayed or fail because researchers can’t find enough funding or participants. JDRF can help you find a qualifying clinical trial in less than 60 seconds.

T1Detect: Type 1 Diabetes Screening Education

Detecting type 1 diabetes risk in its early stages can prevent life-threatening complications and hospitalization during diagnosis. T1Detect helps families understand why screening matters, how to get screened and what to do after they are screened.
